Bolt The Duer wins Dan Patch Invitational

Bolt The Duer,
a 4-year-old son of Ponder-Wonderbolt-Artsplace, captured the $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational at Hoosier Park on May 25 in 1:49.3. Sam Widger was at the lines for trainer Peter Foley and owners All Star Racing of Towaco, New Jersey. It was the second start of the season for the big bay horse.

In 2012 Bolt The Duer became the fastest horse in history on a five-eighths-mile track with a 1:47.4 world record in the $500,000 Adios Final at The Meadows. He also won the $250,000 Kentucky Sires Stakes Final at The Red Mile in 1:48.2, the $415,820 Messenger Stakes at Yonkers in 1:51.2, capping his sophomore season with a 1:51 triumph in the $130,000 Cleveland Classic at Northfield Park.

Bolt The Duer posted earnings of $902,610 last year and now has 16 wins and four seconds in 29 career starts with $1,224,668 in lifetime earnings.

Peninsula Farm Graduates Win at The Meadows
A pair of Peninsula Farm graduates captured two early-closers at The Meadows Raceway on April 29.

Born To Fight, a 3-year-old son by Cantab Hall-China Tea Party-Muscles Yankee, captured a $31,250 early closer in 1:58.3, drawing off by 5 lengths for driver Brian Zendt. Harnessed to the victory—his third of the season in six tries—by trainer William Zendt, Born To Fight has amassed $31,186 in 2013 for owner Gary Saul of Pittsburgh, PA. Born To Fight was bred by Herb Liverman and was born, raised and sold by Peninsula Farm for $42,000 at the 2011 Standardbred Horse Sale at Harrisburg.

Top Tart, a 3-year-old daughter by Andover Hall-She’s A Priority-Catch A Thrill, captured the $31,250 filly division of this same early closer in 1:56.2 for driver Eric Ledford. Ronnie Burke conditions Top Tart, who came from behind to score the win, her fourth of the year in six trips postward. She now has $30,975 in career earnings for owner Wayne T. Zollars of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Top Tart is a half-full sister to champion Prestidigitator 3, 1:52.2s ($869,608), and she was bred by In The Black Stable, LLC, and sold by Peninsula Farm at the 2011 Standardbred Horse Sale at Harrisburg for $25,000.
