November 30, 2009--Ontario, Canada Stompin Tom Creek Wins Autumn Division Stompin Tom Creek, a freshman son of Western Terror--Jacks Creek--Life Sign, captured an $18,800 Ontario Autumn division on Nov. 30 at Woodbine Raceway in Ontario, Canada. The brown gelding won in a career best time of 1:55 by a length and a half for driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Paul Taylor, and pushed his career earnings to $18,607 for owners Glenview Livestock, LTD., of Wallenstein, Ontario, Canada. This fine freshman sold for $50,000 in the Peninsula Farm consignment at the 2008 Forrest City Sale.
November 20, 2009--Yonkers, New York Victors Vicky Wins $36,000 Open Handicap Trot Victors Vicky captured Yonkers Raceway's $36,000 Open Handicap Trot on Friday night, Oct. 20 at Yonkers Raceway in Yonkers, New York. Victors Vicky wins at Yonkers The 6-year-old daughter of Valley Victory--Deaconess Hanover--Sierra Kosmos captured her sixth race of the season in 1:58.1 for driver Jordan Stratton and trainer Richard Johnson. Owned by the Fabulous Farms of New Jersey, Victors Vicky pushed her career earnings to $434,872 and her seasonal earnings now top out at $157,880.
November 9, 2009--Lexington, Kentucky Peninsula Farm Sells Top Yearling at Harrisburg
Peninsula Farm sold numerous high quality yearlings at the recent Standardbred Horse Sale at Harrisburg on Nov. 2-7, including the standout THE QUEEN, who topped the auction block at $360,000 for new owner Jeffrey Snyder of New York City, NY. Bred by the Valley High Stable of Freehold, NJ, The Queen is by Andover Hall--Bold Dreamer--Donerail.

November 8, 2009--Crete, Illinois Make You Wonder Wins Am-Nat Prep Makes You Wonder captured a $4,700 prep race in a career best clocking of 1:55.4 on Nov. 8 at Balmoral by half a length in rein to Travis Seekman. Owned by the Sawgrass Farms of Lockport, IL, and trained by Joe Seekman, Makes You Wonder looks to be the likely favorite in the $154,000 American National for 2-year-old filly pacers to be contested on Nov 14 at the Crete oval.
"This filly is really starting to come around," Seekman noted. "She just got nipped in 1:52.4 at The Red Mile a few weeks ago."
Makes You Wonder has only missed one check in nine tries, with her other Balmoral victory coming on Oct. 18, when she demolished her rivals in 1:57, drawing off by five and ½ lengths. Prior to that start, she narrowly missed on Oct.6, when she finished second by a head in a $12,000 Lexington overnight.
A $50,000 yearling purchase at the 2008 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, Makes You Wonder is a full sister to the standout 3-year-old filly Shanghai Lil p, 2, 1:51.2M ($724,778) and the tough gelding Blue Claw p, 4, 1:49.4M ($348,882). By Jenna’s Beach Boy, Makes You Wonder is the fourth foal out of the Artsplace mare Wonderbolt, and is a half-sister to Devilfish p,4, 1:48.3M ($141,240).
November 7, 2009--Yonkers, New York Shanghai Lil Wins Lady Maud at Yonkers
Shanghai Lil, a 3-year-old daughter by Jenna's Beach Boy--Wonderbolt--Artsplace, captured the $364,430 Lady Maud Pace on Nov. 7 at Yonkers Raceway in a new stakes record time of 1:53.3. Regular driver Mike Lachance was in the sulky behind the filly, who is trained by Peter Foley for the Towaco, New Jersey-based All Star Racing, Inc.
