Impressive Earl, a 7-year-old gelded son of Valley Victor--Nina Yorktown--Pride N Pleasure, captured a $32,000 Open Handicap Trot on Jan. 29 at Yonkers Raceway in New York, in a career best time of 1:57.2. The bay gelding was steered by driver Stephane Bouchard for trainer Lou Pena, and now has two wins in three starts and one second in 2010, with $28,000 in earnings for the Lightning Lane Stables of Staten Island, New York. Impressive Earl now has $203,769 in career earnings with a 19-9-12 record from 69 lifeimte starts.

Real Joke Captures $90,000 Clyde Hirt Final
Real Joke, a 4-year-old son of Real Desire--Kiddingonthesquare--Artsplace, captured the $90,000 Clyde Hirt Final on Jan. 23 at The Meadowlands, pacing in 1:51 for driver Andy Miller and trainer Julie Miller. Real Joke reached the half in a brisk 55.3 seconds and surged up to take the lead from Magicmaker Hanover. Real Joke faced pressure from Woodstock Hanover around the far turn and the two horses dueled through the lane until Woodstock Hanover eventually gave way. With Majestic Jackpot stoutly closing on the far outside, Real Joke gamely dug in for a half-length victory. It was the fourth straight win in 2010 for owners Brian Gordon, Toby Rekoon, and Stewart Goldberg of New Jersey. Real Joke now has $73,500 in seasonal earnings and $87,335 in career earnings. Real Joke sold for $57,000 in the Peninsula Farm consignment at the 2007 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale for breeders Dr. John Cummins and Genesis Racing.

Raising Rachel Tops Broodmares at Big M Sale
Raising Rachel, consigned by Peninsula Farm in The Meadowlands Mixed Sale on Jan. 18, held in the Big M paddock, brought top dollar among all broodmares sold that day. The 4-year-old daughter of Yankee Glide was purchased by David Elwell on behalf of Arlene and Jules Siegel's Fashion Farms, with a final bid of $255,000.

Driven by Andy Miller for trainer Julie Miller, Real Joke was clocked in career best of 1:51, drawing off from his rivals by six lengths. He is owned by Brian Gordon, Toby Rekoon, and Stewart Goldberg of New Jersey and now has $42,335 in career earnings.

A trio of pacers took the spotlight on January 8 at The Meadowlands.

Real Joke, an altered, 4-year-old son of Real Desire-Kiddin'onthesquare--Artsplace, captured a $18,000 division of the Clyde Hirt Series in a career best 1:51.4 for driver Andy Miller and trainer Julie Miller. The gelding pushed his career earnings to $33,335 for owners Brian Gordon, Toby Rekoon, and Stewart Goldberg of New Jersey. Real Joke sold in the Peninsula Farm consignment at the 2007 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale for $57,000 for breeders Dr. John Cummins and Genesis Racing.

P J Clark captured a $21,000 conditioned trot in 1:55.4 for the training-driving team of Julie and Andy Miller. The son of Broadway Hall--Add A Lil Bourbon--Donerail upped his lifetime earnings to $149,648 for owners Brittany Farms, Little E Llc, and the Dynasty Stable. Bred by Arlene and Jules Siegel and Peninsula Farm, this brown 4-year-old sold in the Peninsula Farm consignment at the 2007 Lexington Sale for $60,000.

Peter Lugar, a 4-year-old son of Broadway Hall--Haut Brion--Pine Chip, finished a solid second in a $25,000 conditioned trot for driver Andy Miller and trainer Trond Smedshammer, clocked in 1:55.4 and beaten only a length and a half. Peter Lugar trotted his final quarter in a swift :27.4 and now has $91,027 in career earnings for Petrus Wolter of Norway. This fine brown trotter was sold in the Peninsula Farm consignment at the 2007 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale for $55,000 for breeders Arlene & Jules Siegel and Peninsula Farm.
