Behindclosedoors, a freshman daughter of Andover Hall-Margarita Nights--Yankee Glide, captured a divison of the $31,320 Acorn Stakes on July 1 at The Meadowlands. This spry 2-year-old was handled capably by John Campbell and was clocked in 1:59.1 in her career debut for trainer Chuck Sylvester and owners Melvin Hartmann, Herb Liverman and Dave McDuffee. She was sold for Herb Liverman by Peninsula Farm for $125,000 at the 2008 Standardbred Horse Sale at Harrisburg. Her full brother--MASTER BLASTER--sells in the 2009 Harrisburg Yearling Sale this fall.
July 1, 2009--Crete, Illinois Welchkin Wins ISOBA Stake
Welchkin, a sophomore son of Valley Victor--Miss Onree--Sorcerer Hanover, captured his fourth victory of the year, winning the $14,455 ISOBA Stake in 1:55.1 at Balmoral Park on July 1 in rein to Dale Hiteman for trainer Roger Welch. The 3-year-old chestnut gelding is owned by Roger Welch and the G&B Stable of Illinois July 1, 2009--Lebanon, Kentucky Valley Victory Progeny Fair Well in Kentucky Fair Colt & Filly Stakes A pair of Valley Victor colts finished first and second in a Kentucky Fair Colt Stake for freshman trotters on July 1 at Lebanon, Kentucky.
Defend The Rock, a son of Valley Victor--Jolly Jessica--Keep It A Secret, stopped the timer in 2:06.4 in his first career victory with trainer Bobby Brower in the sulky. Defend The Rock is owned by Bobby Brower and Debra Garland of Indianapolis, Indiana and now has $3,440 in career earnings.
Fort Worth, by Valley Victor--Sugar Chip--Pine Chip, finished second in this same event for driver-trainer Tyler Shehan in the sulky for owner David Arboe of Clarksville, Tennesse.
Just A Valley Gal, a daughter of Valley Victor--Just Having Fun--Royal Prestige, captured a Kentucky Fair Filly Stake in 2:09.4 with Jack Gray, Jr. in the sulky for trainer Stacey Ruddick, her third career victory in as many tries. She now has $3,000 in career earnings for owner Jack Holton of Westfield, Indiana.

Makes You Wonder, by Jenna's Beach Boy--Wonderbolt-Artsplace, captured a baby race on July 1 at Balmoral Park, pacing in Q2:01.2 for driver Travis Seekman and trainer Joe Seekman. This fine youngster is owned by the Sawgrass Farms of Beecher, Illinois and was bred, raised and sold by Peninsula at 2008 Lexington Selected sale for $50,000. Her half-sister by Ponder--MARGARITA MONDAY--will sell in the 2009 Standardbred Horse Sale at Harrisburg this fall.
